Dream honour for top city playwright
PLYMOUTH playwright Hugh Janes has his play, The Rainbow-Coloured Dream, being performed six times this week.
Nothing too extraordinary about that - except that the play's in production by six different companies.
About 150 children from six schools around Devon will premiere the play at three theatres.
Horrabridge Primary School children make up one of the companies, performing at the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington.
The Rainbow-Coloured Dream was especially commissioned from Hugh as a Devon education project.
He created the outline story with teachers and school governors over a weekend last May, then took a draft script into each school to
develop plot and characters with the children.
Altogether more than 700 children from 18 Devon schools are involved in the event, which will take place at Exeter and Totnes as well as at Torrington.
